This beautifully graceful carver dining chair has been treated and waxed to reveal a gorgeous wooden patina. Made from a solid elm seat and beech frame it is one of Ercol’s classics, in production from 1956 onwards, and a charming high-back variation of the traditional Windsor theme, revealing a tall u-shaped, six spindle back and oyster-shaped seat for a comfortable and supportive sit. The bow is steam-bent from a single straight rail into a tight radius bend, and then sanded and shaped to give its subtle and elegant profile. The classic simplicity of the tall domed back has a special appeal, and it would complement any set of Ercol dining chairs, matching or otherwise (or just look great within a mix of other styles). Please note the slight flaw to the top edge of the bow, which in no way will detract from the beauty or usage of this delightful chair.

Fabric: I’ve teamed it with a new reversible loose cushion pad (not my normal choice of an Arts & Crafts fabric, but one from my huge collection which just fitted this chair, and hey presto it did the job). I would be happy to recover this at a customer’s request.
